Kingfisher takes its inspiration from the startling blue-green flash of a kingfisher along the Taff Trail - a moment of colour that can appear and disappear in an instant.

Fine wool has been hand dyed and layered with appliqué pieces of linen and cotton dyed using a variety of indigo and cutch, with different techniques to create shifting hues of deep blue, turquoise and green.

Found fragments of copper add another layer of texture and light, carefully hand stitched into the piece with naturally dyed linen threads.

Made entirely by hand from reclaimed and repurposed materials, Kingfisheris a one-of-a-kind textile artwork inspired by one of the Taff's most magical visitors.
